Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Overview
The xG Calculator (“we”, “the Service”, available at expectedgoalcalculator.com) is a free interactive tool for simulating soccer expected goals. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and the choices you have.
By using the Service you consent to the practices described below.
Information we do not collect
The Service does not require registration, login, or any form of account creation. We do not ask for, store or process names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passwords or payment information. We do not maintain user profiles.
Information processed by the simulator
When you press “Calculate xG”, shot scenario data (player positions, selected shooter, technique, body part, pressure flag) is sent to our backend API so the xG models can compute a value. This data describes fictional or imported shot scenarios, not you as a person, and is processed in memory to return the calculation. It is not linked to any identifier and is not sold or shared.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting providers keep basic technical logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp) for a limited period for security, abuse prevention and debugging. These logs are not used to build advertising profiles.
Cookies and similar technologies
The Service itself does not set first-party tracking or analytics cookies. Cookies and similar identifiers may be set by the third-party services described below, principally Google.
Google AdSense and advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website and to other websites on the internet.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.com (EU).
Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie and similar technologies to serve ads to users based on their visit to this and other sites. For more information on how Google uses data from partner sites, see Google’s Partner Sites policy.
Users in the European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland
If you are a user in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, personalized ads are only shown to you after you grant consent through the cookie consent dialog provided via Google’s IAB-compliant consent management. If you decline, you will still see advertising, but it will be non-personalized.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing or request portability. Since we do not maintain user accounts, the main way to exercise these rights is through the advertising opt-outs listed above and by emailing us.
Users in California
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Use the Google Ads Settings link above or email us to exercise these rights.
Other third-party services
The Service loads fonts from Google Fonts and hosting-related resources from our cloud infrastructure. These providers may receive your IP address and user agent as part of routine request handling. We do not share additional data with them.
External links
This site contains links to external academic papers, research databases and third-party resources. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those external sites.
Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
