Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the xG Calculator (“the Service”, available at expectedgoalcalculator.com) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What the Service is

The Service is a free, browser-based educational tool that calculates and compares expected goals (xG) values for soccer shots using publicly documented academic models. It is intended for learning, research and entertainment purposes only.

3. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The xG values returned by the calculator are model estimates based on published academic work and will not always match values published by professional data providers such as Opta, StatsBomb or Understat. We make no guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose.

4. Not betting or financial advice

The xG values and analysis produced by the Service are not betting tips, investment advice, or predictions of real match outcomes. Do not use this tool as the basis for any wager, financial decision, or professional recommendation. If you choose to gamble, gamble responsibly and only with money you can afford to lose.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in any way that violates applicable law;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse engineer the Service or its backend API;
  • scrape, mirror, or republish the tool’s content at scale without written permission;
  • use the Service to generate misleading, defamatory, or harassing content about real players or teams.

6. Intellectual property

The source code, design, copy and original illustrations of the xG Calculator are the intellectual property of the site owner. Academic papers referenced in the About page remain the property of their respective authors and publishers.

You may link to the Service and share screenshots for non-commercial, educational or journalistic purposes with attribution.

7. Third-party services and advertising

The Service displays advertising through Google AdSense and loads assets from third-party CDNs (for example Google Fonts). Your use of these third-party services is subject to their own terms. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is handled.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site owner is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with a revised “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
